Island Time/Off-Island

Well, we had a great adventure on Saturday - we went to Vashon Island for the first time (my first time, anyway)! I really enjoyed it, and the people we met at their fledgling flea market. Not too many dogs, but snapshots from an idyllic place...This is a shot on the way back but I thought it gives a sense of how easy it is to get away here!

This morning shot is on the way to Vashon - freighters drifting by at 7:00am...

After setting up, we made friends and I bought a scarf from a very talented woman, Karen, who is silkscreening Vashon's shape onto tshirts and scarves - had to have it! Here I am, the proud owner, and Karen, the artist:

This is Sylvia (I think that was her name) a very, very sweet, deaf Blue Healer-Aussie Shepherd mix:

I didn't catch this guy's name, but look at those loving eyes:
And then one parting shot of leaving Vashon that evening - not too many people at the market, but it was a fun day, anyway...

Then on Sunday it was back to "Off-Island" (Seattle) as a Vashon person told us...and where there was all kinds of cuteness! This puppy's first foray on bike:

Newly adopted and no-name yet, but a really good girl:

Lots of scrunchy, loving bulldogs and bassets:

Two cute bulldogs and a cute couple with their French bulldog:

Two pretty dachshunds, getting a ride - Pickle is missing an eye, but she is well-loved:

What's down there?

Awww, what a face... and a big boy hiding with his mom...

And lastly, some real cuties, I mean, c'mon!!! (I love this little girl's red hair and pink dress fashion statement.)

Arrivederci,
Nordy

New Day Dawning

Oh, it was busy this weekend - people visiting, friends stopping by, and we worked Saturday, too, at a market an hour and a half away - and it was Norwegian Day! So, some of the Norwegian scenes, and then Sunday in the Market with Dogs. I saw a lot of pregnant bellies, too - maybe the downturn in the world economies meant more free activities last fall? I hope you had a good weekend. (This is Axel and Zorrito.)

(This lady was the only shot I took on Easter - horribly wet, slow day, but her umbrella and zebra/metallic vinyl purse from B.C. stood out and I honor her effort to combat the bleakness.)

OK, back to Norwegian Saturday - some lovely ladies in lovely outfits:
(The lady in white had the prettiest blue eyes! They were both very upbeat.)

Viking transportation:

The cutest Norwegian bulldog puppy - a girl!
And then it was Sunday, and everybody was out--finally, a beautiful spring day.

(great dresses)

(Capes!)

I love these colors, lavender and teal monochromes:

(I loved this dog's ocean blue collar; and look, cashmere dog coats!)
(the cutest dachshund puppy - they said this was the first time they took her out.)

And then we have this bundle of warm furry floppy French bulldog, with a little pink tongue - one year old!
So, what's next? Well, how about some...dachshunds?
Overhead happiness..

All incredibly squeezable.

(This Doberman just looked really tall after all the dachshunds; a cute little Shibu...)

Cool family, and great oldtime-y musicians, named "Pickled Okra"...

Meeting new friends...a happy walk...
And finally, an homage to the mysterious, sometimes sinister aspects of a cat - the eyes and spoon glow - why?
Entonces, hasta la proxima,
Nordy
