Just a Few More

Ok, probably the silliest picture ever... but just want to post a few more dogs that have crossed my path since September. There aren't a whole lot, but they deserve to be included...

This cutie was a little shy...

A happy face!

And then it's getting colder again...

Been Too Long

So, yes, it's been TOO long. Life got in the way - weird job, GOT MARRIED, cat got sick - yes, we have a cat, not a dog - who knew? - and my involvement in the market has been cut back due to less need for me at the stall and it sure seems like I've already covered all the cute dogs that have come through there. Updating this blog slid further and further back in the pile of "must do's."

But as I debate whether this blog should continue, I see there is one event I must show you that happened last September, or I would fault myself for neglecting to include it: the Lacey Community Market Days "Pet Day." Some great action shots of dogs enjoying themselves, sprinting around an obstacle course, trying to show their herding prowess with some poor ducks, and most of all, shots of summer. As today's windchill factor is making the temperature 6 degrees, it warms me up just to look at these shots of a sunny day in September, bare feet and hula hoops and dry sidewalks!

Cute pups!

Loads of fun!

A symmetric cutie, and look - a cat! If I remember, she wasn't very happy to be there...

A Sea of Dachshunds!

I am not at the market today AGAIN - still waiting on my car. But fear not, I have a plethora of dachshund photos for your pleasure because on Thursday, we went to the "Wiener Dog Rally" at Seattle Center, which was an elimination rally for the annual Wiener Dog Rally at Emerald Downs, the local horsetrack.

I am a little squeamish about horse racing, but for some reason dachshunds running is endlessly funny and I saw no evil owners that day, only a lot of love and appreciation for dachshunds and dogs in general. I mean, c'mon, look at the love in this photo!

So, please enjoy the following photos. They are a mixture of action shots and anticipated action, a lot of feet, and some dachshund blurrs, like the Boccioni (sic) Futurist dachshund artwork from the 30s...

=

There were seven races because there were SO MANY dachshunds ready to race! 50+ dogs! Can you believe it?!? Doxie heaven. Here are a couple more pics from the heats:

Ok, now everybody, calm down....!

Shew! Too much excitement.

Here and There

So, Saturday I went to the first summer show of Urban Craft Uprising, which is a fantastic local crafts fair, i.e., clever updates on traditional crafts. I don't have pictures of what I saw but if you go to their website (http://www.urbancraftuprising.com/) you can see links to the exhibitors - totally worth checking out!

Sunday, not so much on the dog parade, but I loved this kid's bike:

His mom said it's German. He was fast on it!

These guys have their own look; I admire their style sense (and maybe their guts, too)...

This fellow vendor sells fedoras, is super nice, and has done a great business all summer...

I loved this woman's style - I love navy blue dresses, but the red espadrilles really kick it!!

Oh, yes, one dachshund coming up:

Next weekend: hiatus - no car - sorry!

A bientot,

Oops

Umm, I forgot the camera this week. So, no pictures, but two items I will immortalize in the future, if the animals in question return to the market:
A beautiful greyhound wearing a fake pearl necklace
A noble grey cat named Nero riding in his own covered stroller
It was hot, hot, hot so I think most people with dogs stayed away from the heat. Business was still spirited.
So, no pics - sorry. It'll be in the '90s all week here, but wherever you are, stay cool! (I am almost looking forward to winter at this point - bite my tongue!)

Relax!

(I couldn't resist giving this week's blog this title, in honor of this lovely, relaxed child.)

So, it was a good Sunday, although I felt kind of spacey all day. But I have here a shot of what it looks like in the early AM as we set up - cooler temps and this is when dealers check out each other's stuff or when early AM shoppers stop by.

I also want to point out some new neighbors, Mandy and Dave and their totally great dog collars, etc., booth, Knine Couture. Super sweet and their dog, Link, is a-d-o-r-a-b-l-e. And famous in Japan! (Star of a Pedigree campaign there.) Here's their website: http://www.kninecouture.com/
(I like their sign...)

Here's some produce and flowers pics - glorious bounty of the summer!

Great fashion today, too: I'm a sucker for paisley and this woman wore it well. Also, a dyn-o-mite ensemble...

Look at these great colors in this booth! Such happy art!

And this guy, Paul, was travelling through town, up from Tucson, selling his patches of sewn art, "Sewing Machine Designs." Great stuff, very clever, but what blew us away was his SOLAR-powered sewing machine!!! If you go to his website, he has more info about how to set that up, and see his art: http://www.pnosa.com/

It was a very colorful day: here are some shots of still lifes, live music, and of course, dogs...hope you enjoy!

Dogs sniffin'...

Dogs walkin'...
Dogs standin'..

Kid walkin' (great t-shirt!)...
Some big dogs - cute!

I love these two girls, a basset and a dachshund, living together in harmony...

And the winner of cutest dog of the day is...taa daa!!!

Hasta la vista,
Nordy
